VC of Delhi University Suspended by the President for “Dereliction of Duty”

VC of DU Suspended: President Ram Nath Kovind has ordered an inquiry against the Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University Yogesh Tyagi. The order of inquiry has been set on him over the allegations of grave misconduct. Also, dereliction of duties, abuse of power, lack of commitment to uphold the provisions of the Delhi University Act.

The Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University, Yogesh Tyagi has been suspended by the President of the Nation.

He was appointed as VC in the year 2016 and in the month of March. The Ministry of Education has issued an order against the VC Yogesh Tyagi during his period of absence on medical grounds after Pro-Vice-Chancellor assumed charge of the Vice-Chancellor on July 17 be put aside and to be treated as null and void. Also, it further stated that Prof. Joshi would function because of the Vice-Chancellor during the amount of suspension/absence of Mr. Tyagi for the graceful functioning of the university. The order read “The President of India has placed Prof. Yogesh Tyagi under suspension with immediate effect until further orders as he may influence/coerce witnesses and tamper with material records of the university so as to ensure a fair inquiry.”

Allegations against Mr. Tyagi include failing to form key appointments to the post of Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Finance Officer, and Treasurer, Controller of Examination, Librarian, Dean of Colleges, Constitution of Governing Bodies, and a number of other posts.
